As a jewelry and glass artist from Northeast Ohio. I have been creating jewelry designs for over 30 years and am constantly evolving and learning new processes for my work. My interest in art and jewelry began in the late 70’s in my small home town of Saline, Michigan. My early artwork started with macramé wall hangings, pot hangers, and simple beaded jewelry. After discovering liquid silver (sterling tubes) and turquoise, during a trip to Arizona, my beading became much more refined. With my extensive inventory, I began participating in some local art shows and found there were people who were willing pay for what I loved to create.
My mom was the catalyst for my newborn passion for creating jewelry designs. I began by making gifts for my friends and family. Before long they wanted to buy pieces to give as gifts. In the summer of 2004, I acquired my vendors license and applied for my first show in the Cleveland area across the street from the West Side Market. I was thrilled when I was accepted. I showed up with a borrowed table, white table cloth, a shoe rack turned into an earring display and I was "in business." I think I sold about $100 that day and thought I had done well. Now I have a 10' x 10' show tent, 3 tables and some rather impressive displays if I do say so myself.
In 2007, I took a class in fused glass jewelry and was instantly hooked. I bought a kiln but it sat idle for about two months, I was afraid to use it. Now, I just can’t get enough. It is such a creative outlet and the designs are never ending. First came the pendants, then earrings and now purse hangers, key chains, and wine stoppers. The list goes on.
As I coninue to make beautiful glass jewelry, my future plans include using sterling silver and 14K gold-filled wire wrapping on my pendants and earrings.
Look for me at local shows from May - December. Items are also available for purchase at local galleries and at my on-line store.
